Stocking Lake

Available Water Storage Remaining

A dam at Stocking Lake stores water so that it is available for use by the Town of Ladysmith, Saltair and the Diamond area.  Water is withdrawn through an intake at the dam and then distributed to these communities.  The following graph shows the % available water storage remaining.

NOTE:  We are experiencing technical issues with the graphs. If no graph is visible, try hitting refresh a few times or try with a different browser.

The available water storage calculation is based on 100% storage corresponding to the level of the spillway and 0% storage corresponding to the level of the water intake (the point of withdrawal).  Stocking Lake can actually store up to 0.6 meters above the spillways.  However, water stored above the spillway is not released into the rivers at controlled rates and so it is not considered “available storage”.
